Laser Hair Removal By Celibré Medical
At Celibré, we have performed laser hair removal for thousands of patients, including many in Irvine, California. We know that unwanted hair can be a troubling and frustrating condition and like you, we want to solve the problem for you as soon as possible.
There are several ways that Celibré is able to accelerate the laser hair removal process for you. The first and foremost reason that we believe you will get a better and faster result with our facility is that we use over 20 different lasers. The reason we use so many different lasers is that we realize a “one size fits all” approach to laser hair removal and other laser procedures does not work well. We match your skin and hair type with the laser that will result in the quickest and most efficient laser hair removal, which means fewer treatments, a higher percentage of hair removed and ultimately a more cost effective solution. Using the wrong laser technology for your skin can lead to poor results, side effects and many more treatments.

In addition to the laser technology issues, we have performed over 75,000 laser treatments in the past 5 years alone. What this means is that our medical personnel are very experienced, which allows them to get up to the most effective fluence (energy) level early on in your treatment program so that you achieve results with fewer treatments, which leads to a more cost effective program.
When you arrive for your laser hair removal consultation and treatment, our medical professionals will perform a complete medical history to make sure you are a good candidate for laser hair removal, evaluate you for skin and hair type, answer all of your questions about the procedures and suggest a proper treatment program for you.

Laser hair removal is different than most other types of hair removal. The two main differences are that laser hair removal is permanent and fast and no other treatments have both of these traits. Electrolysis is very old method of permanent hair removal. The problem is that it is a slow and tedious process because of the fact that the practitioner can only treat one hair at a time. Treatments can be slow and painful and spread out over years. The difference between electrolysis and laser hair removal is that laser hair removal is very fast. During laser hair removal, many, many hairs are treated at once. This means what may take hours and hours with electrolysis can take minutes with laser hair removal. Waxing and other forms of non-permanent hair removal can be painful and slow as well, but the most problematic issue is that they only temporarily remove the hair, whereas with laser hair removal is permanent.
How Laser Hair Removal Works
Permanent laser hair removal is only achieved when the small blood vessel that feeds the hair with nutrients from the blood is permanently closed by the heat energy of the laser. During laser hair removal treatments, heat energy of the laser is absorbed into the base of the hair follicle where most of the pigment is concentrated. When this heat is absorbed, it closes off the blood vessel that feeds the hair. This is turn causes the hair to die. Permanently closing the blood vessel that feeds the hair typically takes several laser hair removal treatments. As discussed above, the type of skin and hair you have will determine the best type of laser for your particular situation. It is important to note that laser hair removal for dark skin types is not difficult but may require more treatments than with lighter skin types.
Hair has three different growth cycles, active growth, resting and a transition phase. For laser hair removal to work most effectively, the hair must be in the active growth phase. The reason for this is that the heat energy of the laser will not affect the damage (close) the small blood vessel that feeds the hair unless it is in the active growth phase. This is important because in determining how much time the patient should have between laser hair removal treatments, we look at the duration of the hair growth cycle for that particular area of the body. By matching the duration of the hair growth cycle with the duration between treatments, we will minimize the number of treatments that will be required which makes your laser hair removal treatments more cost effective.
During laser hair removal treatments, a cooling chill tip at the end of the laser is placed on the surface of the skin. This chill tip protects the upper layer of skin while allowing most of the laser energy to pass into the skin and down to the level of the base of the hair follicle, where it works to close the small blood vessel that feeds the hair. There may be some discomfort during laser hair removal treatments and this is most often compared to the feeling of having a rubber band snapped on the surface of the skin.
Expected Results
Laser hair removal results will vary slightly from patient to patient depending on such factors as sex, skin type, hormonal imbalance, and hair type or color. In our practice, the average laser hair removal results we see across all patients are as follows: 70% of patients get approximately 70% permanent hair removal, 25% of our patients get up to 95% permanent hair removal, and for some reason 5% of patients do not respond well to laser hair removal treatments.
